Karen Millen was born in Hampshire, England in 1954. She is currently retired and lives in England. Her love of fashion began at a very early age and her passion continues to this day. In her younger years, she was an avid fan of comic books and her dolls were always popular.
Karen started her first store in a small shop in Hampshire where she sold her own custom made fashions and handmade dresses. As she got older, she moved to design clothes for other people. She gained her knowledge of tailoring by working at the same place where she first started her fashion line, which gave her a good idea of what types of garments to specialize in. Karen became an expert at making elegant yet simple white cotton shirts that were the standard in high society at that time. These shirts are still very popular today, especially with the younger generations.
Karen Millen was named one of “Fashionistas” for her work in the fashion industry and has since become a well-known name in the fashion world. She has designed clothing for many celebrities and has been invited to be a contributor at the Fashion Institute of America. She retired from her first full-time position in fashion at the age of 32 and has since pursued her second career as a freelance writer and fashion consultant. She lives in New York City and continues to work as a freelance fashion writer and fashion consultant. Karen has even started her own website to share her fashion tips and recipes with the millions of people who visit her website each day.
